The Wharf Grand Cayman Wedding | Karen and Dave

November 21, 2014

The wedding of Karen and Dave   took place at The Wharf which is an amazing venue. The white sandy beach and then you step up to the deck under a tented roof for the reception. The best of both worlds. Bride and groom got ready just further down the beach at a lovely condo and after their wedding ceremony was over the party started! Amazing dancing with DJ Craig and ended with wish lanterns. Just an amazing day!

Here is their story:

We met on the snowy winter night of January 7, 2011. Karen was at a holiday party and a group of her friends decided to head to downtown Harrisburg, Pennsylvania for a drink. Dave also happened to be out in Harrisburg that night. We fatefully bumped into each other at the bar at Level 2 while trying to order drinks and a conversation quickly developed. Dave was surprised that Karen actually knew about welding and had visited Connecticut, where Dave moved from. Dave then popped the question, “So where is your boyfriend?” Karen answered with a smile, “I don’t have one.” Dave raised his eyebrows and phone numbers were exchanged.

Two days later we talked on the phone for 2 hours. We went on a date later that week and that obviously went well.  Six months later we took our first trip together to Cayman.  This is one of the many reasons we want to tie the knot in Cayman and share the Cayman experience with our family and friends.

The Proposal:

It seemed to me like it was a normal content Saturday night at home on a cold December night with my boys.  I had just tucked Dylan in to bed and Dave had a nice fire going.  I couldn’t figure out why Dave kept staring at me and I was beginning to get creeped out.  Then finally, out of nowhere he turned off the TV and asked me to join him on the floor in front of the fireplace.  We started to remininisce about the great times we have had throughout the last three years.  Dave then started to talk about several topics on marriage. He explained that diamonds are a symbol of marriage because of their strength and why they’re worn on the third finger. Then he  a recited a Bible verse from Proverbs about marriage.  Then he got on one knee and asked me to marry him.

Little did I know that earlier that day, Dave had asked Dylan if it was ok with him if he asked me to marry him.  Dylan was very happy and said yes.  Dylan somehow managed to keep a straight face the rest of the day.

Little did Dave know, December 14th is my father’s birthday.  Dave never got a chance to meet my father as he passed away in 2009, so in a way it was as if he was granting his approval from heaven.
