We were trail running near our house. On a quiet trail in the woods, where there wasn’t another soul nearby, Nick asked me to stop for a minute. He had a beautiful speech about wanting to spend the rest of our lives together, and got down on one knee right on the trail. It was perfect because I always told him if he proposed in public I would say no!

I went with my friend Amanda to try on dresses after seeing one on Instagram that I loved. As soon as I saw the back of this one I felt like it was made for me. It was so light and delicate, perfect for a barefoot beach wedding.

What was your favourite moments from the wedding?

Having a first look right at Villa Mora was one of the best things we did. It took the nerves out of the walk down the aisle and gave us plenty of time to spend together just the two of us before the ceremony. We both were laughing and relaxed during the ceremony. We also had Wendy’s kids perform a sand ceremony which was special for us to have them involved in our day.

Cute Story

We both were involved in triathlons prior to meeting. Nick preferred the run and I preferred the swim. Once we started dating, Nick got back in the pool and I went back to trail running. I had already competed in one swim-run event and Nick immediately signed up to be my partner for my next two. Now we run and swim together whenever possible.

Nick’s grandmother couldn’t make it to the wedding, so we brought it to her. We set up a phone on a chair and FaceTimed with her so she could be there with us!

How did you meet?

We met through a mutual friend while Nick was traveling for work. At that time he lived in Wisconsin. We had dinner in New Hampshire. He mentioned he was coming to Boston two months later. He and I ended up having dinner and we talked and laughed without giving thought to the hour, so much so that I had to apologize to my babysitter for staying out way later than I promised.

How would you describe your overall wedding experience?

Perfect! It was exactly the vision we had in our heads when we started talking about our ideas almost two years ago!

We loved our first look. It was raining a bit before the ceremony, but we were able to find some great covered spots. It became a moot point though as the sun came out for our first look!

Wendy and Nicholas did their first look and all their pictures at Villa Mora, there was no need to head out for photos as the venue was perfect.

I used a handkerchief to wrap around my bouquet that my Mother had used in her own wedding 50 years ago (almost to the day).

We both felt a little nervous during the vows, but mainly emotional and excited to be exactly where we wanted to be.

What advice would you offer other couples planning a destination wedding?

Hire a good wedding planner to help you find the perfect vendors, like Rebecca! She made sure that our favorite moments were captured so we can enjoy the feelings of our day for years to come.

We only invited immediate family, so all of the guests were in the photos. Now we will have amazing photos of the most important people in our lives forever.

We danced to “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran. Nick and his Mom danced to “My Wish” by Rascal Flatts. Wendy and her Dad danced to “Teach Your Children” by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. Nick and Wendy’s daughter, Maddie danced to “Butterfly Kisses” by Bob Carlisle.

The landscape lighting and trees at Villa Mora were perfect, draped in twinkle lights it made the reception perfect.

What photography related advice would you offer to a couple?

Be honest with what you want from your photos. Then trust in Rebecca. She is an expert and has the experience to know what works and what doesn’t! Also consider a first look. It allowed us to see each other without the pressure of guests watching so we could have some quiet moments before the hectic pace of the wedding. After the wedding consider trashing the dress. We had so much fun playing in the ocean in our wedding outfits.
