A lot of brides ask about the TTD Sessions (Trash the dress) and it is something I have wanted to blog about for a long time. So today is the day because I have been corresponding with a brides mum now for some time and she had asked me about this. She had seen some pictures of a session we had done and told me that her daughter was having a large reception when she got home and absolutely must not get the dress in a condition that it would need dry-cleaned. “TTD sounds fun, maybe Lauren can do this in a tame way.” I told her that was great and we could do this any way should would like. TTD is not for every bride and often for destination weddings, the bride must wear the dress again. However, TTD does not always involve actual ‘trashing’ it is just called that. I have posted a few images from Gaela and Jono’s TTD session to show everyone the images that lead up to actually trashing her dress, so if your dress is not to get wet or spoiled we can just have a load of fun with different locations and you can stay CLEAN and DRY. Okay back to Laurens mother…… so after a few emails she finally emailed me this amazing email.
Thanks, Rebecca. You know I had my wedding dress “preserved” after my wedding
in 1973. Well, Lauren and I opened it a couple of weeks ago and she tried it on. Let me
just say, “It did not hold up well to the years in storage”! I’m not even sure
I can make a garter out of the fabric! So glad Lauren never wanted to wear it
for her wedding. There’s something to be said for “ttd”! I highly recommend it
under most circumstances! It will most likely NEVER be worn again by anyone!
I just loved this email and thought it was so great for her to send it to me. Lauren will have a great wedding regardless, I shot her engagement session a few months ago and what a fun couple! But how great for her mum to preserve her dress from 1973!!!! WOW.
Hi Rebecca,
I’m so glad you found use for my ttd comments! We could hardly squeeze Lauren into my dress, but then I weighed 30# less than today! I’d lost so much weight before the wedding, they had to take-in my bra–it fell around my waist! The dress fabric seemed to change into plastic, and the veil, which was beautiful back in 1973, looked quite cheap & ugly–the silk flowers that made up the headband turned yellowish and brittle–in fact, the whole getup seemed yellowish and brittle–something Miss Havisham from Great Expectations might favor wearing! Lauren is hoping to buy an inexpensive gown she can truly trash for pictures. We’ll keep you posted on that.
