I was a little unconventional with my dress. I walked into The Wedding Studio with my mom one day and told them I was getting married on the beach and have always wanted a “chill” wedding and “chill” dress. I have never wanted to wear a huge, extravagant ball gown on my wedding day. They understood immediately and pulled out some options. They put me in a flirty high/low dress first. Much to my surprise, I loved the look of the high/low cut. Next, they introduced me to the separates. The whole theme being “build your own dress” that is unique to the bride. I went home with a couple different ideas but hadn’t made any decisions. For years, I’ve kept an eye on the BHLDN website. One day, they had their own line of separates and there was a high/low skirt. I ordered it right away. I loved it immediately but was not in love with any of the options BHLDN had for bodices. I went back to The Wedding Studio with skirt in tow (and an appointment, this time) and they helped me select the perfect Martina Liana bodice to compliment my skirt. To top of my one-of-a-kind look, I picked out a headpieces of gold leaves called the “Alba” by Untamed Petals.

We met through his twin sister. I met his sister while on the dance team at Indiana University. She took me out to celebrate my 21st Birthday where I met her twin brother, Nick (the groom). He bought me my first shot and then we didn’t meet again for almost three years. This time, we developed feeling for each other. The rest is history.

Nick convinced me to go shopping with him. I thought this was strange because he normally likes to shop by himself (if at all). Before we left, he asked where I wanted to get lunch. I suggested the little restaurant where we’d had our first date. I didn’t know it at the time, but he’d already been in contact with them and told them his plan. We shopped a little before walking around and enjoying the first snow of the season. This snow was the kind that Christmas dreams are made of: thick pieces of snow that stick to the ground, my hair, eyelashes and everything else. It was beautiful! We went in to the tiny restaurant for lunch where we had our meals and shared a cup of chili. Some lovey dovey things were said and he popped the question. Then, out came the carrot cake and mimosas to celebrate!

How was your experience taking photos/working with me on your wedding day?

It was fantastic! You were wonderful at creating a vision and using the environment around us. I appreciate how comfortable you made us while taking the photos. Also, including your son with his drone was an extra special touch.

Excited and sentimental.

My family has been traveling to the Caymans for over 30 years. I first came when I was around a year old. We have travelled to the Caymans every year since with the exception of a few years post Hurricane Ivan. We waited patiently for the island to be prepared for visitors again and were ecstatic when it was ready. As a little girl, I decided I wanted to get married in the Caymans. When I became a young adult (before I met the groom), I decided it would be perfect to get married under the trees at Silver Sands. It was my dream wedding!
