We went to college together but didn’t know each other until years later. We met at our friends wedding about 10 years ago.
We were driving up the coast of Northern California and we stopped at the most beautiful look out point by the Bixby Bridge outside of Big Sur. There couldn’t have been a more beautiful place to get engaged.
I was so honoured to photograph the very first wedding at the beautiful Kimpton Seafire Resort in the Cayman Islands. The resort is incredible and was perfect for Stacy and Dave who are the most laid back couple out there! Robin, the director of Catering went above and beyond to make this day amazing, as did the staff of the Kimpton. The ceremony was gorgeous on the ocean with a beautifully decorated Chuppa by Celebrations. The ballroom looked incredible and then the amazing Trash the Dress a couple days later. Best Day Ever!!!

My sister was 8 months pregnant and coming to visit, so I was with both her and my mom. We went to Betsy Bridal in Baltimore, where my sister bought her dress. I had a vision of what I wanted and I worked with Rose (one of the bridal consultants) and she brought me in a few extra styles to just look at. She suggested I try on the one she picked for me just to see what it looked like. All of the dresses were beautiful, but when I put that particular one on, I knew it was the one. The best part was before I put it on, Rose knew it was the one. She was spot on. It was a simple and easy process – and I walked out with my gown the first day we looked. I never needed to go to another store.
I actually spent the night with my grandma the night before the wedding and did not see Dave until our first look right before the ceremony. I am somewhat old fashioned and wouldn’t have had it any other way. It was an incredible experience and I am so grateful we did it that way!
Getting ready at the Seafire Kimpton Wedding
Our first look, when my grandmother saw me in my dress for the first time, and when I looked out from the Chuppah and saw everyone smiling and being a part of our wedding weekend.
Seafire Kimpton Wedding
Relaxed and excited
The experience was amazing. All of our vendors went out of their way to make sure we had the perfect wedding weekend.
Breaking of the glass at the end of the ceremony, being married under a Chuppah, signing of the Ketubah and the lifting of the bride and groom in chairs at the start of the reception. All Jewish traditions close to my heart.
ELOPE. 🙂
“Stacy did you just say that!!!! 🙂 she is joking guys!”
Use all the vendors I did. They were top notch. Be sure to do your due diligence before you move forward with any options. And get married at the Kimpton Seafire in Grand Cayman. You wont regret it!
Working with Rebecca was amazing. It was incredibly important to my husband and I that we have time to mingle at our cocktail reception and not just take pictures for 2 hours. Rebecca arrived early to make sure we could get all the “getting ready” shots and then go right into our first look, and then into our must have family photos – so we could get them completed before the reception. She (you) were amazing to work with. Also accommodating to whatever was asked!
Celebrations – Andrea Gergely (on Cayman Island) – Top notch for the Chuppah to the floral decorations Craig Urchyshyn – from one World (best on the island – I can confirm!!) Rebecca Davidson – Photography (wedding, engagement photos) – Super easy to work with, yet fun and creative! Robin Ewing – Kimpton Seafire (director of Catering) – Went above and beyond to help with everything. She literally helped us create the perfect wedding from start to finish at a brand new hotel. Don’t get married anywhere else on the Island. Picture This – on Cayman Island – set up a photo both and did our videography. Worked hand in hand with Rebecca Davidson and everything went very smoothly!
A huge thanks to Guy Waller of Picture This Studios who second shot with me and made just so much more fun!!! As he got in the ‘drink’ for these cool shots with his underwater housing!!!! Awesome job GUY you are an amazing photographer!!!!! love ya mate!!!Great shot above and below by Guy Waller of Picture This Studios
A friend of mine suggested that a few weeks before the wedding we create a “must have” sheet of photos, a suggestion you mentioned as well. That way as we thought of more pictures, we could add to the list and not miss any. I brought it the day of the wedding and I must admit, I was beyond impressed that we got all the family photos done prior to the ceremony. Granted we moved through them like clockwork, but we were able to get them done as planned (despite me taking longer to get ready). The only suggestion I can make to a bride is pad the time a little bit, sometimes it takes longer to get ready then you anticipate. But you (Rebecca) worked with us and got us back on schedule – and everything worked out perfectly!
What photography related advice would you offer to a couple?
Use Rebecca Davidson. She is amazing. She spoke with us on the phone in great details prior to our first visit to get us comfortable with her from afar, right off the bat she asked us our vision for the types of photos we wanted, and was helpful in making sure all our needs were met.
