My maid of honor went above and beyond with scheduling appointments across a number of cities in Ontario. She was right by my side as I tried on a number of dresses. When I found the one, she said my face just lit up and we both knew that I had found the one!

Anjee has hosted many underprivileged children, and their mothers, that require heart surgeries at the hospital on island. This is also how we met as Grant brought a meal for the families one night! Ever since we met, Grant has been helping Anjee when she hosts the children! We are looking forward to helping more children together when we are living together!

Grant’s perspective! We attend the same church, and I had obviously noticed Anjee, as she is very beautiful! Anjee was hosting two families from Bolivia with children that had recently had heart surgeries. This already taught me a lot about who she is! Anjee had set up a list for persons in the church to bring dinners for the families, and I signed up for one night. When I brought the food, she was not there, so we did not meet. Anjee hosted a farewell dinner for the families which I attended. This was the first time that we officially met. A month or two later I decided to send her a message, and we chatted via message while I was in South Africa in 2017. When I returned she agreed to go for dinner with me!

Anjee’s perspective! We do attend the same church…it’s true! I had never noticed Grant, as he typically would sit at the back of the church, while I would sit closer to the front. I was hosting two Bolivian children that were recovering from their recent heart surgeries. People from the church often helped out with the meals and Grant had offered to help. The evening he brought a meal, we had crossed paths, as I was still heading home from work. Something in my heart told me that we were going to meet, but not quite yet! I wanted to hold a farewell dinner for the kids and their moms – Grant was the only member from the church that attended. I didn’t get to talk to him much during the dinner, but…about a month later, while he was visiting South Africa, he messaged me out of the blue! After many long messages back and forth, he asked me to go for dinner with him upon his return. The rest is history! We flew to Miami for a weekend and went shopping for a suit! After going to many shops and trying various suits on, we realised that it would be best to have one made for Grant! Grant’s suit was a Joseph Abboud suit made from Zignone Italian wool.

We did not see each other before the wedding, we didn’t want to! Well Anjee saw Grant from behind as she already knew what the suit looked like, but Grant did not see Anjee. We did a first touch photo/film session, which was amazing! We used it to do our own vows to each other, in private! We wouldn’t change a thing about that, it was an awesome experience!

We went travelling in Nicaragua and were hiking up and camping on top of volcanoes! We traveled on local busses and Grant had to store the ring in his camping backpack, which he was obviously nervous about! We eventually stayed at a lodge in an old volcano basin, we had a small private pool outside our room and Grant got down on one knee next to the pool and asked me to marry him!! He filmed the whole thing so we can remember it for years to come!

Anjee’s dog Rosco was in the wedding… He was the ring bearer! Anjee adopted him 3 years ago from the shelter after he had had an accident where he lost his leg. He’s such an important part of our lives and our wedding wouldn’t have been the same without him in it!

Having our family together from various continents and celebrating such an amazing day in our lives! The venue and set-up were beyond beautiful! We had the most spectacular sunset!
