We chose Grand Cayman to be the location of their wedding due to its family significance to Erica, Erica and her family traveling to grand Cayman for the past 25 years, and James’ strong desire to get married on a beach.

True story:

James had trouble waiting till the end of the ceremony to kiss me.

Some of the jewelry I wore was family heirlooms including my earrings and blue ring. We both like candid photographs of us and our guests. Funny faces and sweet exchanges.

Wonky donkey! Rebecca asked my bridesmaids and I to walk “sexy” towards her on the veranda at Kaibo. I laughed thinking I am no model but lets give it a try. We all felt quite silly and were not convinced the pictures would turn out. We were wrong. Rebecca had all of us huddle around her camera to show us how gorgeous the picture turned out. From that point on we knew we were in good hands as Rebecca helped us relax and enjoy the time together.

I went dress shopping with my mom and 2 sisters. We went to 3 different boutiques in Chicago. The wedding dress I chose I ended up ordering without trying it on. I decided it was my wedding dress with the help of a local seamstress who was able to tailor it to best fit me.

We met through mutual friends at a bar. It was not love at first sight, there was no spark, we even had difficulty carrying on a conversation. Some say this was due to how noisy the bar was, some say this happened for other reasons. Luckily, Erica scored an invite on James’ boat the next week. This was where we were able to have a meaningful conversation, connect, and admire the city from Lake Michigan.

Erica and James chose his suit together. We focused on finding a light suit so James wouldn’t overheat easily. James found a fun stingray tie that matched his unique style.

James asked Erica to marry him in their newly purchased home. James surprised Erica by coordinating her family to be in Michigan to help them celebrate their engagement.

Erica: walking down the aisle with my parents toward James while acknowledging our guests. The whispers we shared while taking pictures right after the ceremony.

giddy excitement, couln’t stop smiling, wanted to remember every moment

We did not… James and I were adamant that the first time we wanted to see each other was when I was walking down the aisle. We wanted to share that moment with everyone, the scenery, music etc.

Erica: nervous and excited energy James: calming Erica

Go with an experienced photographer and trust their professional advise.

If you have the means, a wonderful and experienced wedding planner is well worth the decreased stress especially if you are unfamiliar with your destination choice.

Weather! It was windy and overcast but still gorgeous! Our wedding planner was extremely helpful reassuring us that everything would be wonderful despite the weather.

How was your experience taking photos/working with me on your wedding day?

James and I do not particularly enjoy having our pictures taken. Rebecca was able to showcase our personalities and assist us in feeling very comfortable. Her sweet and spunky energy put both of us at ease. We ended up enjoying the moments after our ceremony with the photographers the most. We were able to share whispers and really take in that time together while the photographers guided us. Definitely a beautiful moment we will remember forever.
