Jennifer + Kevin | Smith Cove, Grand Cayman

April 8, 2013

Jennifer had Brittney and I in stitches from day one – we couldn’t wait to see an email in our inbox from her because we knew it would make us laugh!  In one of her first email she told me: “I’m so stoked.  “Fun” is our middle names … well not technically … but we’re totally crazy and goofy.  I think we’re more excited about the pictures than the actual wedding.  Almost.  😉  We expect our ceremony to be short and sweet … and then let’s get on with this photo shoot baby!!!”  She also told us that Kevin had a very important job when they arrived on island: “I need someone with me to remind me to drive on the left side of the road.  That’s his job.  “LEFT, LEFT, LEFT!” Jennifer also had a lucrative business idea as she struggled to find 2 witness to their intimate beach wedding…I think you should seriously consider moving here to start your genius business! 😉

I’ll let Jennifer tell you the story of how they met…I just LOVE it! 🙂

“A friend and I spent Sunday nights watching football at a local pub called The Brassie.  We sat in the same spot and ordered the same thing.  After a particularly long weekend we were considering staying in, but my friend pointed out that our chances of meeting someone increased exponentially when we left the house. So off we went, the night of November 8th, only to find that someone had taken our usual table.  That someone was Kevin and a co-worker.  Kevin was sitting in MY spot.  We sat next to them and got talking about how neither table finished their “Brassie Nachos”.  After we left I said to my friend “I think I might have liked that guy”. Neither of us believed in fate, but so many little things could have gotten in the way of us meeting, it’s almost creepy.  6 months later Kevin gave me a picture of the Brassie Nachos as an “anniversary gift”.  He said any girl that thought a picture of nachos was romantic was a KEEPER.  The photo still hangs in our kitchen today.  2 ½ years after we met, at our favourite spot … Smith Cove … Kevin proposed.  We returned 6 months later to marry on the same beach, the 3 year anniversary of the day we met. ”

We made a quick pit-stop at Grand Old House (where the newlyweds dined under the stars that later evening) so that Jennifer could get ready and then we headed over to Smith Cove for the beautiful, intimate ceremony with Ms Joy from Simply Weddings.  We got right down to business and just like that…they were man and wife!  Hurrah!!

We drove all over with these guys and just had a blast!  I love the photo of Kevin spinning Jennifer – she told me that she was laughing so hard because she thought she was going to be sick from all the spinning!  Too funny! Here’s what Jennifer had to say about their big day… “We had a BLAST with Rebecca.  I don’t know anyhow that can honestly say that their wedding photo shoot was absolute FUN and void of stress … except us.  Even though we had a short window of time to get the photos, we were able to get in every shot we wanted, in several locations … including Kevin changing on the public beach, right next to 2 police cars!!!  Racing around the island reminded us of the Amazing Race.  The photos FAR exceeded our expectations.  We were essentially eloping, and it was important to us that the photos captured the fun of the day.  These pictures are the only memories that our friends and family have of the day, and so many people have said to us that they are the best wedding photos they’ve ever seen.”  Thanks SO much guys!!

When they got back home they had a reception at their house – “Be in Our Wedding Party” – they encouraged their guests to dress as a bridesmaid or groomsman, love it!  They even had prize categories (prizes being souvenirs from their trip to Cayman!) and their friends and family really went for it!!  It sounds like it was an awesome evening….even if there was more cross-dressing than anticipated!! 😀

Congratulations again guys!!  Come back and visit us again soon…We miss you!!

When I showed these guys this photo – Jennifer replied: “We love to dip!”  Too cute!! 🙂
