A Palm Heights Love Story | Jamie and David celebrate at this fantastic beach front property overlooking the Caribbean Ocean.
How did you meet
David and I met on a dating app in December of 2017. We had talked about meeting after the New Year for our first date. On January 2nd, 2018 we had planned to meet at a cocktail bar downtown. It was FREEZING outside. We both contemplated postponing the date until our New Years eve hangovers wore off and it was above at least 20 degrees. We separately spoke about how to let the other one down gently with our friends but thankfully, our friends both said, “Just go. It could be fun.”
Good thing we both listened to our friends and had an amazing first date. I was running a few minutes late, David had texted me and said, “I am the guy with shorts and flip flops sitting at the bar” and I immediately felt comfortable and at ease. David showed me an app that he created, we talked about our families and discovered our birthday’s were 6 days (and 5 years) apart. I called my mom after our first date and said, I think I’m going to marry him.”
We spent the next few months getting to know each other over dinners, walks around the city, coffee shop dates, comedy shows and much more. We moved in together in February of 2020 and fell even more deeply in love during the trying months of covid. David proposed to me 3 years after our first date, on January 3rd 2021 and the rest is history.
How did you find your dress
I went to Klienfelds in NYC with my mom. I thought that I had already found my dress but didn’t have that moment of trying on with my mom. I tried on about 6 and finally I said, ” I think i found a dress somewhere else. This is what it looks like.” The stylist said, ” If you think you love that one, you are going to LOVE this one.” I started to tear up when I put it on and knew she was right! It was perfect for me and our location.
Tell us something unique about your wedding
We accidentally fell into a gold mine! We landed the dream team from miles and miles away and didn’t even realize. Everyone at Palm Heights, Celebrations LTD, and Rebecca Davidson Photography were AMAZING.
How did he pop the question
We went on a hike that I thought that I had planned in North Carolina. It had rained a ton the night before so it was really muddy and slippery. We were laughing and taking pictures as we slipped and slid all over the trail. At one point I was walking in front of David down the mountain and he said, ” Let’s take one more selfie.”
I pulled out my phone and quickly snapped a picture. When I looked at the picture I saw that he was holding a GORGEOUS ring in a little blue box! I turned around, started crying and he got down on one knee. It was perfect.
Any traditions
I sewed in a little piece of my grandfathers blue golf shirt into my dress, near my heart. My seamstress sewed it into a shape of a heart too. It was really special to have him there even though he wasn’t physically there.
How did you find the grooms outfit
David went to Suit Supply in NYC and said, ” This will work.” and it did! Very true to him and his personality!

How did you feel walking down the aisle
So insanely excited and happy.
How would you describe your overall wedding experience
I want to go back and relive it every week. It was AMAZING! Every moment. I wouldn’t change a thing.
What was your favourite moment at wedding
Dancing with all of our friends and family. I don’t think there was a moment that we stopped dancing, even in the brief rain! Taking a moment to step back and look at all the people who had traveled all that way to be with us was really special.
