Alex & I have known each other for over 15 years now. We met in middle school and were high school sweethearts. We reconnected after college and have been together ever since!
It was most definitely a surprise – not what everyone was expecting but perfect nonetheless. It was Christmas night 2015, I was home in bed sleeping while he was still at his aunts with his family. When he got home he was clearly buzzed and kept fidgeting which woke me up. I assumed he was just being an annoying drunk as he started to babble. Then the words came out “I just got off the phone with your dad, I needed to make sure I could give you your last present.” He pulled out the ring (mind you we are laying in bed in a pitch black room) and said “Will you marry me?” I immediately started crying and the rest is history!
I hated the bridal gown search experience! I knew exactly what I wanted and because it was so specific it was difficult to find in traditional bridal salons. I came across Grace Loves Lace online and when I saw the Lola dress I just knew. I ordered it and when it arrived it was just perfect. Slight alternations needed but nothing major. For the groom it was obviously beach casual. No suit just a white shirt, khakis and a blazer from Bonobos.
We had gone back and forth on whether or not to do first look photos. Ultimately we decided to do them but because of the rain we couldn’t. I wasn’t upset because seeing eachother for the first time when I walked down the aisle is something we both will never forget. Then we got to do beach photos the next day and had a mini trash the dress shoot. That would’ve never been possible on the day of! So it actually ended up working out better! I would recommend not doing a first look and booking a shoot the next day. Maybe not to trash the dress but you will be 100% more relaxed and that’s what you want in your photos!
How did you feel during your vows or just before you walked down the aisle?
I was completely calm the entire day – even with the rain! It was just before I was about to walk down the aisle that I needed to chug a glass of prosecco!
Celebrations was a pleasure to work with. Andrea Gergely was my planner and she was amazing! I didn’t have to worry about a thing! Jackie Soriano did my hair and makeup and she was fantastic! And I’d have to say our favorite part was having the Cayman Violin Trio! They are truly amazing!

Truly amazing! I can’t stress enough how happy we were that we decided to keep it small in Grand Cayman. We had the big 200 person reception back in NYC two weeks after and it was overwhelming. It was great to celebrate with our extended family and friends but it becomes a blur and then it’s over before you know it. We were lucky enough to have both but looking back we could’ve just done Grand Cayman.
Take it all in! Don’t stress about the small details. It legit down poured on our wedding day! We couldn’t do our first look photos and we had to switch the ceremony from Surfers Beach to Grand Old House. The rain stopped for the ceremony and it was beautiful on the deck with cloudy skies which were perfect for photos. Since we couldn’t do beach photos that day we did them the next day and got amazing photos in the water which I would have never done if it was the day of! Everything worked out perfectly – if not better!
We LOVE Rebecca! Our entire wedding week was perfect and made possible because of Rebecca. When we traveled to Grand Cayman to plan she bent over backwards driving us around the island to ensure to we found what we were looking for. All of her recommendations were amazing and the day wouldn’t have been complete without her!
