The dress
I found the dress online after searching for weeks and knew it was the one from the moment I saw it on the website. I waited months for it to be available to try on and didn’t see any other dresses as I had such a strong feeling towards it. When I finally went to try it out, I came out to show my mum and best friend who both started crying and I had goose bumps. I said yes to the dress there and then!
Unique Story about you both
We’re both called Alex and now have exactly the same name – Alex Birkitt
How did you meet
We met at work! I started on Monday 4th July and we started speaking on Saturday 9th July. We had our first date 2 weeks later and the rest is history!
Grooms outfit
We always knew we wanted a big white wedding and the groom and groomsmen in dinner suits. We started searching online to find a really nice tailored dinner suit and made an appointment at a tailors in Leeds. From the moment he tried it on, we both knew it would perfect! I’ve never seen him look more handsome than on our wedding day!
How did Alex pop the question
He arranged to take me out on a mini yacht in Puerto Banus at sunset. He told me it was for my birthday which was a few weeks later. We drank champagne and sailed around for an hour. Before he said to me, I haven’t brought you on here for your birthday, I’ve brought you to ask you this and showed me the ring, before saying ‘will you marry me?’

How did you choose your venue
We didn’t want a hotel or beach wedding but something different. We fell in love with the magical garden vibe of the venue and knew it was the one for us!
Did you see each other before the wedding
No we didn’t see each other. We wanted to wait and I think it was perfect, as we were so excited to be reunited and couldn’t wait to hold one another again.
How did you feel just before you walked down the aisle
I couldn’t wait to see him at the end of the aisle and felt like I could burst with love when we said our vows!

Favourite moment from the wedding
Seeing Alex at the end of the aisle and the look on his face. When I got to him, he said ‘you look perfect’
How would you describe your wedding
Magical! The best day of our lives and we wish we could do it all over again!
Advise for other couples thinking of doing a destination wedding
Do it without hesitation! It made the experience so special, having time with our friends and families before and after the big day. Instead of it being a one day event, we had 2 full weeks enjoy every minute of it!
Photography advise
Enjoy it and soak it all in! My husband normally doesn’t like having pictures taken but even he embraced the moment and appreciated how special it would be looking back on our photos!
Were you anxious about anything
If everything would go to plan as I’m a perfectionist. But it turned out even better than I could have ever imagined
