The Dress

My dress was from Made with Love which was the third bridal shop I went to. I had high hopes for the shop as I loved a lot of their designs. The dress I picked wasn’t one I had my eyes on but the shop assistant suggested it and I loved it as soon as I put it on. It was a simple but classy design – strapless, some boning in the top part, and a long train with buttons all the way down the back. I got some little off the shoulder straps made which I could wear for the ceremony to give it a little extra detail but then detach for the dinner and party.

Decor

Deseos Florist did our decor and it was absolutely perfect. We wanted the focus to be on the surroundings as it was such a beautiful venue and setting so we kept the decor pretty simple with some nice neutral florals and some rustic touches. Deseos did exactly that and made each area feel so magical and intimate. The flower arrangements were absolutely beautiful and so much better than we had expected. We also had fairy lights and some wooden lampshades for the dinner which added to the magical intimate feeling we were going for!

How did you meet

We met in Newcastle, Australia when Lucy was on a study abroad year with her university. We had crossed paths a couple of times on college where we were both staying but we didn’t start talking until we bumped into each other on a pub crawl (so romantic!). We hit it off straight away and the rest is history!

How Did Jake pop the Question

We were on holiday in the Amalfi Coast in Italy and we were walking down to watch the sunset at a Marina. Just as we were walking down the hill and the sun was setting, Jake asked my mum to take a photo of us. As my mum was taking a photo, Jake dropped down on one knee and gave me the biggest surprise of my life. It was the easiest yes and we spent the rest of the night celebrating in the most beautiful part of Italy.

The Venue

We got married at Cortijo Pedro Jimenez which is a traditional Spanish country house in the Andalusian mountains. We picked this venue as it was in the mountains so it had spectacular views of the mountains but it was only 10 minutes from the coast so it also had beautiful sea views! We also wanted a venue where we could get married and where our families could stay so this was the perfect venue for us. The Cortijo had so many beautiful areas and we got to enjoy all of them for different parts of our wedding day.

Any Axieties

I was quite anxious getting ready as I didn’t know what to expect and emotions were running high! As soon as I was with Jake at the front of the ceremony, I started to calm down and enjoy the special moment.

First Look

I did a first look with my Dad which was a special moment and also very funny moment at the same time!

The Aisle

The emotions were very high but I had my Dad by my side to keep me calm and as soon as I saw Jake, the nerves settled and the excitement kicked in!

The Kiss

It was a special moment – the start of a very exciting chapter and the best day of our lives!

The Reception

Everything about the party was fun! We couldn’t have asked for a better night! We had Roberto playing the saxophone which probably made the party! He was amazing and had everyone dancing around him. My mum also surprised me by getting cold fireworks which went off during our first dance to make it even more special! Looking around seeing how much fun everyone was having and seeing all our loved ones in the same space is a feeling that will be very hard to beat!
