Cayman Islands Engagement Session | Sophie + Stefan
February 13, 2016
Sofie and Stefan didn’t want the typical engagement session pictures that a lot of couples ask for in Cayman, beach and ocean etc. but rather they wanted to capture a romantic feel, which showed their home but in a much more natural way. I was so excited to photograph this couple because I love that they wanted something so different, I loved that they didn’t want any ‘posed’ shots and helped collaborate with the photo ideas. They used the photos for an incredible website that was sent out to their guests so everyone could have links to where to stay, car hire companies, what to do and also the itinerary for the wedding week. Their wedding is 7 days away……. here is their story….
We met in our first year at University at a Netball/Rugby ‘nautical themed’ speed dating event. Stefan was dressed as a baywatch life saver and Sophie was dressed as a shark (don’t ask!). We officially started dating a few months later once Stefan had whisked me off for a romantic dinner date and have been together for 8 years now.
Sophie was born and raised here and it has always been her home. We have lived here for the last 3 years so it has become our home together. We thought what better excuse to ‘drag’ our UK friends over here!
We’ve had so many funny moments together as a couple over the last 8 years, unfortunately the best are too scandalous to repeat on a pretty blog like this!
Where to start. Sophie is naturally beautiful and one of the most warm/caring people I have ever know. What I love most however is her unrelenting sense of humor, silliness and always up for a party attitude!
Stefan is of course the most handsome man I know (stylish, sporty and always the best styled hair!), but he’s also much more than that – he’s smart, ambitious, driven, extremely caring and loving and my number one supporter. We’ve been through so much together over the last 8 years. I really wouldn’t be where I am today without him and he’s the one person I always want by my side to share my best and worst moments with!
Fun shots set in some stunning Cayman backdrops.
It is great practice for the wedding and an important moment to cement in your lives. We weren’t going to do it but we’re so glad we did!
Rebecca was great in directing us and working with our ideas. I (Sophie) found myself a little self-conscious but perhaps that’s something to get used to for the big day.
Stay tuned for the wedding of Sophie and Stefan….. congratulations guys!
