All About The Dress
It was my second store. I went to look with my youngest sister, Catie, and it turned out I loved this dress so much. When I put the veil on, I cried.
First Look
The grooms perspective – All morning I was waiting for this moment. Waiting and waiting but the moment always seemed to be hours away. But all of a sudden, it was go time and a wave of nerves came over me. I stared at the water not knowing if she would be behind me in 30 seconds or 5 minutes. And of course, it was closer to 5 minutes. The longer I waited, the more my emotions built. When it was time and I turned around, I lost it immediately. Seeing her in her wedding dress, hair and makeup done, made it all real. She looked perfect as always, but extra perfect in that moment. I was so excited to see her and happy to finally be with her so we could enjoy our day together.
The brides perspective- I remember I couldn’t get off the bus fast enough. I was so excited to see Egan and finally show him my dress, but also officially begin our wedding day. I was moving so quickly from excitement the wedding planner and photographer and videographer needed me to slow down to capture it all. When Egan turned around and saw me for the first time, I was so happy and I was even happier knowing he was happy.
Walking Down The Aisle
When the bride walked down the aisle, she went from feeling nervous to an overwhelming sense of excitement. It was the coolest feeling in the world to see all your favorite people in one place, looking back at you, and being there to support the union you’re about to create. It’s a moment she will always remember.
The groom – When I walked down the aisle with my brother I felt an overwhelming sense of pride and gratitude. Proud of all the work Casey and I had done. The people we brought together on the small island of Cayman Brac and the man that Casey has helped me become. Surprisingly all the nerves went away and I was ready to call Casey my wife.
Did You Do Anything Traditional or Not?
As a tradition, we did say our vows but we made them personal to us and our relationship. They were more about our story and deep connection than an “I do.” The vows we made that day, both traditional and untraditional, were one of the highlights of our wedding day.
We did not cut the cake traditionally, but later in the night, Egan and I cut the cake together then ate it with our hands because we couldn’t find plates or forks! We had way more fun this way. Some of our friends even enjoyed this with us and the cake was delicious.
How Did He Pop The Question?
It was Casey’s 29th birthday and Egan was acting very strange. He told Casey they had plans later in the day, but first they would go for a walk to the beach. What Casey thought was a romantic beach picnic, turned into the best day of her life. As we approached the beach, Casey quickly realized the beach picnic was grander than she expected. A white blanket, flowers, cheese platter, and pillows decorated their favorite spot at “Secret Beach.” Egan swiftly asked Casey to walk down to the ocean, where he got down on one knee and asked Casey to marry him. She said, “of course!” and they enjoyed champagne and cheese together. On their walk back, on the hottest day of August, Egan suggested they take a swim at the beach closer to their house. Casey hesitantly agreed, thinking they needed to make a dinner reservation, only to be shocked into happy tears seeing both of their families surprise them on the beach. And that’s not all! Egan’s sister, Kaitlyn, blindfolded Casey and told her she made her a nice dinner at home. Walking the 3 minute walk back to their house, Casey was surprised once again by all of her close family and friends for a night of celebrating. Wine, cake, and keg-stands took over the unforgettable night.
How Did Both of You Meet?
We met in Miss Schwalker’s 2nd grade class. Our friendship grew throughout the years becoming good friends in high school. Even when we went off to college and graduated we kept in touch. It took Egan until Casey moved to California for a teaching position to realize she was the one. The girl who lived 7 minutes down the road growing up and the girl that now lives on the other side of the country. Casey came back to Connecticut for the summer and things were different between us. It was almost like our time apart made us realize the connection we had. That summer, Casey invited Egan as her date to her best friend’s wedding. It was our “first date”. And from thereā¦ the rest is history.
What Made The Reception Unique?
We loved our firework show! It’s also unique that we had people from all over the United States fly to Cayman Brac, a 10 square mile island in the middle of the Caribbean, for our special day. Our “seat assignments” were personalized messages in bottles which was a fun touch for our guests. We also liked having Danny Ebanks in the pool area, a local artist from Grand Cayman.
