All About the Dress

What a perfect day, my sister/MOH arranged a boujee dress trying on day, appropriately broken up with cocktails and finishing with a delicious meal. My Mum and sister-in-law came with us for multiple opinions. We booked three shops, the first a little pretentious (so we helped ourselves to some extra bubbly into our bag on the way out). The second shop, I was struggling to find the right fit for me, moaning about the size of my hips and that no style was the one for me. Well, until my sister had shown the shop assistant a dress she had tried on when she came two years previously to find her Wedding dress. It was the dress that didn’t make the cut for her but she had loved it. The lady popped downstairs as they didn’t keep it on display as it was outside their average price budget. Well I slipped it on and knew it was the one. My sister and I shed some tears as we knew it was meant to be! Safe to say the purchase was made there and then and we went to the final shop for a bit of fun and I tried on every ugly dress I could find. I’m so lucky to have my Mum and Aunt for treating me to the most perfect dress.

What advice would you offer other couples planning a destination wedding?

Get a Wedding planner (and use Sunshine Weddings if you’re looking at Spain!) We really could not have planned such an amazing party in another country without one, it made everything effortless and took away so much of the stress. Also if you’re a sweaty person, really think about what time of year you’re planning for. We were lucky as it was under 30 degrees, but if it had been 40 I think I would have melted in a dress. Make the most of the local culture – we loved having authentic Spanish food, flamenco music and castanets as table favours.

The Groom’s Suit

Well this was the easy part, a 45 minute appointment followed by a Nando’s, guys really do get it easy. Oli knew he wanted a suave light/cream coloured suit. We met the amazing Fidel who told Oli exactly what would look and feel great on him, and it worked out perfect. He went back for a couple of fittings and the whole process was seamless. The same can’t be said about his shoes, it’s not easy to find a smart pair of shoes for those size 13’s. Also, I don’t think Fidel would be too impressed about the knee stains on Oli’s trousers, but sometimes you have to live in the moment (cue air guitar).

Those “Going Down the Aisle” Emotions

Very nervous until I arrived at the venue, as soon as I knew the guests were sat and settled and I heard the music of the Flower Bro’s entrance I felt immediately relaxed and excited to see Oli. We were both so excited to share the moment in front of all our loved ones and couldn’t wait for the celebrations to start.

How Did you Meet?

It was one of those fairy tail stories you see in movies when two people catch eyes on a busy train, then the rest is history. Only messing, we’re simply a tinder love story, the fate of our love story is down to one (very quick) swipe to the right. We had our first date in Earlsfield, London.

What was memorable about taking pictures with your bridal party?

For me it’s always the Sellars family ‘Blue Steel’. Though I cannot deny how beautiful my bridesmaids were, they absolutely shone inside and out!

Photography Advice

Listen to the professionals! Rebecca and Noah were so easy and fun to work with, they made us feel instantly relaxed and as a result got so much out of us and the guests. They had us saying a couple of silly words and then the camera did the rest. We had an informal chat over the phone a couple of weeks before the Wedding and they gave great advice and we naturally had the same vision. But it’s definitely worth doing your research before hand to check you like their style.

How Did He Pop the Question?

By miracle I was caught off guard. Any suspicion would have been raised if Oli out the blue arranged a surprise date night (makes me sound controlling, but really I’m too organized to give Oli the chance). So I had planned a meal at a cute restaurant in town to celebrate Oli’s job promotion, we ate dinner outside with the sun shining, on our way home we took a stroll through the park and I looked back as I thought Oli had fallen over and there he was on one knee. Just perfect to us, and I love that we can always walk past that special spot.

An Amazing Party

The focus for us was to have one big party, we wanted nothing more than to dance under the stars with our favourite people into the early hours with a drink or two. Having Laura, the singing waiter, was a turning point in the day for us. She spent an hour or so flirting with the guests, being silly and causing mischief, and then after a little disturbance, broke out into song and dance and the guests (and us) went absolutely wild for it. It really set the tone for the style of Wedding that we wanted, for very one to come together in song and dance and have no care in the world.

The Perfect Venue

We wanted an outdoor venue that we could dance under the stars way past midnight. We were lucky this was one of the few venues where you didn’t have to go inside past the sound curfew. The backdrop and natural beauty of the plants was a big seller for us, and not to mention the look over the ocean.

What was your favourite moments from the wedding?

The Flower Bro was just amazing, we can’t wait to see the footage, Matt was nervous for his performance but he absolutely smashed it (I think the couple of shots he did beforehand, and the adrenaline helped somewhat). When Laura came out with amazing voice and getting everyone dancing on the chairs, swinging their napkins and being thrown in the air. We had so much fun with Rebecca and Noah, asking around the venue, being silly, getting some really fun shots and spending time together through the madness of the day. Sharing this amazing experience with both of our wonderful families, so are so lucky to have their support and seeing them have fun and getting stuck in was priceless. Getting ready with our bridal party was so fun, the girls had a relaxed and nostalgic morning with a great playlist and a few cava’s. Eva and Flavia made the morning so relaxing and fun, everyone looked absolutely gorgeous and full of confidence, I am so grateful to them for getting the perfect look on me. Having our little Page Boy, Arthur, getting ready with us and looking so smart was perfect, and he was such a good boy for the whole trip! Oli’s morning had a lot less makeup and hairspray but the lads scrubbed up very nicely and a few beers certainly helped to calm the nerves. How can we forget the outfit changes for dancing, and I don’t mean my second dress. The three way swap between Sally, Shira and Rob was brilliant, it really set the tone for the style of party we had. And how can we forget, Sydnie’s late night swim in the fountain. Legendary.

The First Dance

Our first dance was Westlife, “world of our own”
