The Dress

I found my dress in the second shop I went to. I was with Tina, Jackie and my bridesmaids. I quickly realised what shape suited me, after originally imagining a big A line dress! I knew my dress was the one because I burst into tears when I tried it on! As the dress was so simple I wanted a dramatic veil, so decided to add some lace and use some Spanish inspiration.

How did you both meet

We met in Slug and Lettuce in Epsom ten years ago, Lewis then messaged Rachel on twitter to meet up again, rest is history!

How did Lewis pop the Question

Lewis proposed on a private boat in Marbella. Rachel was not expecting it in the slightest, even though looking back it’s not every day you hire a yacht for two 😂 He then surprised Rachel by organising for their friends to fly out and meet them after for a celebration. It really was so special, Rachel is crying in nearly every photo!

Nerves…

Lewis was so nervous in the morning that he made the groomsmen do a circuit in the gym, then downed a gin and tonic and opened a bottle of champagne at 10am. Meanwhile Rachel didn’t break a sweat and had the most relaxing morning getting ready with the bridesmaids!

The Venue

Our venue, Casa De La Era was perfect for us. We loved that it had different areas, and the guests would move into each section throughout the day. We loved the rustic feeling, the cobbles, the amphitheatre, and the gorgeous natural greenery on the buildings. The villa was still authentic Spanish but with a modern touch and had the most beautiful Bridal suite and getting ready room. We also loved that we could walk around the back to surprise the guests with our entrance into dinner.

First Look

Rachel had a first look with her Dad, which was emotional! He gifted her a gorgeous bracelet to wear on the day.
Rachel and Lewis also had a moment the two of them right after the ceremony, which was so lovely to take a minute to soak everything in and catch up about the morning.

The Aisle

I was SO excited to see Lewis. I felt incredibly lucky to have my Dad by my side helping me navigate the steps, and was so grateful to see all of the faces that had flown all the way out to be with us in Spain.

The Kiss

We had been practising our first kiss a few weeks before the wedding, there was a night where we must have kissed about 30 times trying to get it right, Lewis was adamant his nose had to be behind mine, and we were conscious we didn’t want it to be too raunchy 🤣

Decor

Karen from Deseos flowers did the most amazing decor, my favourite was the draped fabric on the aisle arch, and the mirrors at the entrance were really outstanding. My friend Steph designed all my signage, menus and table plan which added thoughtful details, and made it personal to us.

Any Anxiety

We were so anxious about the weather. All week it said on the forecast it was going to rain, and we were really panicking! We had heard about a tradition of burying a sausage the night before the wedding, as it’s meant to bring good weather, so we and did exactly that! Seemed to do the trick as there was sunshine all day.

Anything Unique

Lewis used to do a bit of magic back in the day so we had to have a magician during the day!
The intro music to the speeches was also so fun, really set the tone for each speech and got everyone cheering them on.

Tradition

We loved that we decided to not have a top table, and being amongst our friends and family during our meal.

Entertainment

The rendition of oasis ‘wonderwall’ by the best men which we found out after was completely improvised!

How was taking photos with us

We loved that Rebecca and Noah were up for making fun videos with us and getting photos of the boys smoking cigars.

The Party

We had the best music – Mr Maph and his band really got the party started with the soul and Motown songs! I think having an unlimited shot bar also helped loosen everyone up for the dance floor.
They replaced the tequila bottle three times and ran out of gin with half an hour left (which apparently has never happened)
